3 years, 5 months, and 26 days. Beware of your surroundings. Leave and find more hospitable environment as soon as you can.

My dearest Shosh and Jaialai:

Three titles explains why I never wanted to return to Oregon after moving to Washington, D.C., and the Silicon Valley:

The grandparents of Kailee Johnson, a Stanford basketball phenom who grew up in Oregon, http://www.gostanford.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=7850, were prohibited from marrying in Tigard, Oregon.  They were a mixed couple.  Thus, their son, Kailee’s dad, is a bastard — a child born out of wedlock, or an illegitimate child.  This happened within our lifetime.  Don’t think this is ancient history.

What happened to us would never have happened in a more progressive place.  Move, my sons.  Find a place where you can make your contributions and live peacefully.  The Silicon Valley is more hospitable.  Go there.

Be safe.

All my love, always,

Dad
