My dearest Shosh and Jaialai:

Love life. Be passionate about life, nature, and all living things.

During our brief time together, I hope I helped instilled that love within you. Recall our numerous trips to the Oregon Zoo? Newport Aquarium? Seaside Aquarium? Seattle Aquarium? Honolulu Aquarium? (Even though we were in Honolulu for a few weeks, I bought an annual pass because you guys wanted to visit the aquarium daily, and we wanted to support the institution.) Recall our annual Fathers and Sons camping trips in the woods with our friends? Recall our efforts during our last summer together to visit all nearby parks that had water features?

During your weeks with me, we eschewed electronic media in favor of experiencing real life. I hope you continue to do so…although I suspect that is not the case, and that your mother has reverted to letting television and electronic games supervise you. Try your best to return to nature.

All my love, always,
Dad
